This conference, co-organised by Tanya Linaker (King's College London Modern Language Centre), took place on 4 April 2019. The purpose of the conference was to provide a forum for all teachers of Arabic in Higher Education in the UK and abroad to come together and act as a catalyst for collaboration across all institutions, as well as support the closer integration of the teaching and learning of Arabic with other languages in UKHE. 2019. The conference was very well attended by over 100 delegates.
Mahmoud Al-Batal, Professor of Arabic in the Department of Arabic at the American University of Beirut accepted the MLC’s invitation to act as the keynote speaker, and delivered a paper entitled “Building a successful Arabic Programme, Issues and Challenges. Programme Design and Curriculum Alignment: including teaching resources, technology and innovation”. He also led a workshop on applying a content-based instruction for Arabic learners at advanced levels.
